1. Admissions Policy
Introduction
Banutu Business College is committed to academic excellence and ensuring that all students are well-prepared to succeed in higher education. Our admissions policy is designed to uphold high standards while providing fair opportunities for all applicants.
Minimum Entrance Requirements
To be considered for admission into Banutu Business College, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess at least three (3) credit passes at the high school level.
Entrance Examination
Applicants who do not hold credit passes in both English and Mathematics are required to sit for the BBC Entrance Examination. The examination assesses proficiency in English and Mathematics to determine placement at the appropriate academic level.
Exemptions
Applicants with credit passes in both English and Mathematics at high school level are exempted from the BBC Entrance Examination and will be placed directly into college-level coursework.
Examination Results and Placement
Students who achieve a score of 80% or higher in each subject (English and Mathematics) will be admitted directly into college-level courses. Students who achieve less than 80% in either subject will be required to take Remedial English and/or Remedial Mathematics before progressing to college-level coursework.
2. Grading Policy
Purpose
This grading policy outlines the standards, procedures, and criteria used to assess and evaluate student academic performance at Banutu Business College. The policy ensures fairness, consistency, and transparency across all academic departments.
Grading Scale
All courses at Banutu Business College will be graded using the following letter grade system, based on a 100-point scale:

Grade Components
Final course grades will be based on a combination of the following elements (may vary by course):
- Examinations (Midterm and Final): 40%
- Assignments/Projects: 25%
- Quizzes/Tests: 15%
- Class Participation & Attendance: 10%
- Presentations/Case Studies: 10%
Note: Individual course syllabi may adjust weightings with instructor approval.
Incomplete Grades ("I")
An “Incomplete” may be issued when a student, due to extenuating circumstances (e.g., illness, family emergency), is unable to complete all course requirements. The student must arrange with the instructor to complete the work within two weeks after the end of the term. Failure to meet this deadline will result in the “I” automatically converting to an “F.”
Grade Appeals
- Discuss the concern directly with the instructor within 7 days of receiving the grade.
- If unresolved, submit a written appeal to the department chair within 14 days.
- The Academic Review Committee will evaluate the appeal and make a final decision within 7 days of receiving it.
Academic Standing
To remain in good academic standing, students must maintain:
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- No more than one failing grade (F) in any academic term.
Students falling below these standards will be placed on Academic Probation and must meet with an academic advisor.
Repeating Courses
Students may repeat a course in which they received a D or F. The most recent grade will be used in GPA calculation, but all attempts will appear on the transcript.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate from Banutu Business College, students must:
- Complete all program coursework with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- Have no outstanding financial obligations to the college.
- Fulfill all departmental and capstone requirements (if applicable).
Policy Review
This grading policy is reviewed annually by the Academic Affairs Committee to ensure alignment with institutional goals and academic standards.
