PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY

James F. Mendy is a Gambian education leader, public administration specialist, and peace and conflict practitioner with over two decades of experience in teaching, school leadership, public service, and community-based peacebuilding. He is based in Kafuta Village, Kombo East District, West Coast Region, The Gambia.

Mr. Mendy holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Public Administration from SUPDECO University (2023–2025) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration from the Management Development Institute (MDI). His academic background also includes an Advanced Diploma and Diploma in Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies. He also holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management at Banutu Business College (BBC), a Primary Teacher’s Certificate (PTC) from The Gambia College, and a DELF A2 Certificate in French from Alliance Franco-Gambienne.

He began his professional career as a Classroom Teacher at Saint Charles Luanga Lower Basic School (2003–2006). He later served as a French Teacher at SDA Mission (2006–2009) and Ndow’s Comprehensive School (2009–2018). His leadership capacity led to appointments as Senior Head Teacher (2018–2019), Deputy Head Teacher (2019–2020), and Head Teacher of Ndow’s Comprehensive School from July 2020 to date.

Beyond school leadership, Mr. Mendy serves as Vice Chairman of the ECWA Schools Board of Governors (2024–2025). He is also the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Organization for Peace and Humanitarian Assistance, where he leads initiatives in peace advocacy, humanitarian support, and conflict mediation.

He is an International Peace Member and national representative of youth peace movements and serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Kafuta Youth Development Association, providing technical guidance, mobilizing resources, and supporting dispute resolution.

Mr. Mendy is a social and peace activist, peace and conflict analyst, and community mediator who regularly engages government institutions, political leaders, and the public on peacebuilding and conflict-related issues. He actively participates in international peace discourse, advocacy programs, and seminars. His scholarly contribution includes the publication “A Case for Tackling New Trends in Migration.”
